Digital studio Generate to Alloy

Generate, digital-minded studio founded by former WB programming chief Jordan Levin, continues to be acquired by Alloy Digital, a division of youth-specific producer Alloy, the businesses introduced Thursday. With Generate within the fold, Alloy may have an inhouse production machine for feeding the business's range of content businesses serving the 12-34 market. Alloy is the organization that co-produces teen-skewing TV series including ''Gossip Girl'' and ''Pretty Little Liars.'' "With this particular transaction, along with the strength in our combined management teams, we're the leading next generation media company reflecting the very best of both old Hollywood and also the new digital era: cost-effective development and production, talent management, distribution, ad sales, social networking and promotion all in one place,Inch stated Alloy Boss Matt Gemstone. Alloy itself was acquired by several traders brought by ZelnickMedia this year. Purchase is Alloy Digital's greatest since obtaining YouTube sensation Smosh this year. Levin, who founded Generate in 2006, will remain on with Alloy and produce key people of his original team with him. Contact Andrew Wallenstein at andrew.wallenstein@variety.com
